Gone Green

We're green!  So excited!

As I blog I am surrounded by thousands of pieces of paper from things like tax receipts, printed email, notes written on pretty paper, contracts, post-its and much much more.  It's amazing that most of this is just useless waste for the environment, after all, we live in a digital era.

Our 2008 goal is to do away with the need of paper with the use of desktop post-its, saving our emails via the computer, introducing our web based client communication community, electronic contracts, billing and more.

I also take a vow to turn off my computer when I'm not using it, instead of leaving it running. It's pretty amazing to see how much energy you save from this one tiny thing. On average, saving $95 a year in energy costs.  Another goal is to cut down on unnecessary travel by ordering more online and doing all my running while I'm out. As many of you know, I live in the country, around 45 minutes from Chattanooga, so I'm trying to combine things to do in my trips for this coming year.

All of these are small things, the cost of the software for us to go digital is around the same amount I spend in plain white printer paper a year, so really, over time you save. The best part is we're helping the environment!

Here's the fun part... I challenge all of my blog stalkers out there to post at least 1 thing in the comment box below that you could change this year to help the environment.  I'll keep everyone updated on my progress during the year and would love to share your story too! Have pictures? Email them in with some info about what you changed and lets start some GREEN excitement!

Kirt and I just bought re-usable grocery bags. We're going to be "those" people at the store now, and I can't wait.
